I think it’s awfully funny when I sit down to write a blog post, that most of the time, I have no idea what I’m going to write about. I usually just have a brief notion of something to say, and then I wind up with a post. Sometimes it’s interesting, sometimes it’s boring, but I never have been one not to say something…
This last week has been an adventure, my husband has been home on vacation, and it’s certainly made the usual routines feel odd and forced.
So I’ve found myself playing with my new Corel Pain Shop Pro Ultimate photo editing software.
One of the characters in my current WIP has bright pink hair, and I thought I’d see if I could change this model’s hair to the appropriate color. Originally, her hair was brown with red streaks, and her eyes were a dark green.
(The photo came from Dreamstime, one of their free stock downloads).
I tweaked her hair to pink, obviously, lol, but I also did her eyes as well to match my character.
It’s not the best rendering, and in no way do I claim to be any kind of graphic artist, but since I don’t do pin boards or big collages for my characters, this is how I intensify the image of them in my head. Just for those days when I need a visual boost.
Is it perfect? Hardly. There’s places where I flooded the pink and didn’t quite get all the lines even, but for what it is, and what I use it for, it works. 🙂 Sure, I could have just looked for a girl with pink hair for real, but I never could find one that had the proper, I don’t know…. attitude that this girl portrays in her expression.
So what do you do to help keep you inspired?
