May the 4th be with you, and live long and prosper.
Okay, so that was mixing fandoms, and yes, I did it on purpose.
I can’t help it, I love my fandoms.
Star Wars has been with me forever–since I was a kid, and saw this princess who could shoot at the bad guys and yell at the good guys when they were being dumb, and save the day if she had to.
Completely changed my views on princesses, that’s for sure.
Then there’s Star Trek, which I also love, but for completely different reasons, and 90% of those reasons are because of my dad, who loved his Star Trek. I watched Star Trek and Star Trek The Next Generation with him every week. Later, we enjoyed talking about ST Voyager, and even enjoyed the new Star Trek movies.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is another loved fandom, though for different reasons–a lot of them had to do with the Scoobies than actually any love for Buffy. (She’s kinda whiny, and got on my nerves there toward the end). But I still loved the show.
Then there’s Firefly — because, it’s Firefly. Between the language, the fact that they’re pirates but really not, in space, that’s even more fun for me.
And Harry Potter, those I love for a very different reason–because of the world. The idea of this massive world created slowly, and each book is more and more in depth of that world, I loved it. It swallowed me up, and I have played all the online quizzes I can find to determine which house I’d be in–usually Ravenclaw.
Marvel’s Avengers, especially Captain America, is one of my fandoms too. Cap sits on my shelf, over my writing space, inspiring my books. There’s just something so touching about Steve Roger’s story that always gives me goosebumps.
My latest obsession is Supernatural — because. Winchester Boys. And because they really did a neat twist on the idea of paranormal hunters. I really love how they’ve laced together all the bits, including angels and demons.
So, today, on May the 4th, let your fandom rule you, my dears. 🙂 I love all of mine. 🙂 Love yours too.
